I think it is very cool that I get to take photos of one of my favourite bands. The Lucky Wonders are busy in the recording studio at the moment cooking up some more magic.
Here is some of my own magic I captured at our latest shoot.
Julia was the ultimate bride. She did absolutely everything herself. At 7pm the night before the wedding Julia was still at the reception venue putting the final touches on the table settings. A little bird told me that her mother spent 7hrs straight sewing the lace flags that hung so elegantly at the reception. Julia even got up early on her wedding day to finish the wedding cake that yes she made all by herself. The styling was inspired but best of all it was personal. A beautiful day for a beautiful couple.
Five mins to Byron – five mins to Bangalow – the peace and quiet of a rural setting with all the conveniences of being close to town. I am pretty sure this is the dream house. I first met Emma and Greg when I came to their house to photograph a family portrait on their beautiful property. Now they have decided to sell, I am back to photograph their real estate photos. Maybe I will win the lottery and I can buy the house myself. A girl can always dream.
These are just some of my favourite pics from the shoot.

I always wonder how far I should go. When deciding on a location for Lindsay & Jared’s photo tour, I found this great field with a beautiful old fig tree. The grass was long and there were cows everywhere, not really a dress friendly environment. So I put it to to Lindsay and Jared and they decided to go with it. The flat shoes went on and the dress was hitched up. We all came out of the experience unscathed with some beautiful photos. A little bit of awkwardness for photos that last a lifetime. I think it was worth it.
Photograph 30 sunrises in 30 days. That is the challenge. As a late riser the idea of waking up every day for a month before the sun has risen seems unnatural and frightening. I have however, accepted the challenge and will henceforth become the sunrise warrior. A warrior amongst an army of around 50 Byron based photographers who have joined the month long pilgrimage to The Endless Sunrise. A Byron born initiative dreamed up by Stefan Jose with all proceeds going towards charity.
Day 01 – So it rained but I still think my pic has attitude.
Day 02 still no sunrise – I kept hoping I might just be early. No love, so I photographed the clouds again. I am thinking 3rd time lucky for tomorrow.
Day 03. Rain. Found it quite difficult to get up this morning. I got bored with photographing clouds. Thank you to Jodie for being my sparkler bitch.
Day 04: Shared the sunrise love with the beautiful Donna Wild and her best friend Yindi. The sun was still hiding but I enjoyed the pretty pastels regardless. By far my favourite sunrise yet.
Day 05 - 19.01.12 Day five: Today I got filmed for The Endless Sunrise. Felt like a bit of a rock star. I even scaled the cliffs of Broken Head to capture this.
Day 06 – No sun again but some nice glow and a conveniently placed fisherman. Heading up the coast tomorrow in search of the sun.
Day 07 – Had to travel to one of my favorite places in the world, Moore Park QLD to actually see the sun rise. Thank you once again to the lovely Donna Wild for all her pole action.
Day 08 – Still in Moore Park QLD where the sun actually rises. My imagination is starting to run wild with this project. Maybe it is creativity or maybe lack of sleep. Either way, I think Donna looks like some sort of liberated mermaid – goddess of the sun, sand and surf.
Day 09 – I walked 50m out my front door to take this one. Back to Byron tomorrow.
Day 10 – This photo is a dedication to my camera who copped a thrashing today in the rain but pulled through unscathed. Go team!
Day 11 – I decided to work with the rain today. Thanks to Donna Wild for working the hell out of my camera at Clarkes Beach this morning. I am calling this shot Wet & Wild.
Day 12: I am calling this one wet and wild
Day 13 – I thought the raindrops on my lens looked like fairy lights.
Day 14 – Another sunless morning. Really lacked inspiration – I will have to spark up for tomorrow.
Day 15 – The sun hinted at making an appearance today. I think tomorrow will be a cracker. Two friends hunted me down at sunrise today, hard to beat good company whilst watching the birth of a brand new day.
Day 16 – 16 days in and we get our first sunrise! Lennox Head put on the colour show today.
Day 17. The sun goddess returns.
Day 18 – Lovers at the lighthouse.
Day 19 – I sort of wandered around in Kirra world this morning splashing in the water until the sun came up and I remembered I was supposed to be taking photos.
Day 20 -The sun goddess strikes again. I had to race off to the airport today. I literally shot and ran – luckily the sunrise and Donna were amazing. Tomorrow’s shot will be from Melbourne so expect a much more urban feel.
Day 21 – An urban sunrise.
Day 22 – Yesterday was a ten-hour wedding in Melbourne, which meant today’s sunrise, was a bit painful. I stumbled out of my front door in my undies to take this one.
Day 23 – One week to go. I am in need of a sleep in. Oh how luxurious it is going to be.
Day 24 – The sun goddess rocked it poolside at La vista today. Stunning location – Damien the owner even presented us with Magnolias. I could get used to this sunrise gig.
Day 25 – The mozzies ate me alive this morning. I am counting down the days till I get a sleep in.
Day 26 – Picture this – my alarm goes off and I want to throw it across the room. I get up and it pours on me. I snap a pic and crawl back to bed. Insert sad face.
Day 27 – This handsome man came for a smooch while his owner was having a sunrise surf. (sigh) I want a family of dogs.
Day 28 – I am calling this Mermaid Watching. Only 2 days to go!
Day 29 – Only one more sunrise to go. I am calling this one Broken Beauty taken at Broken Head. A bit corny but I will roll with it.
Day 30 – The Endless Sunrise army of photographers gathered on a hill at Coopers Shoot for our final sunrise shoot. Now that my 30 day sunrise challenge is over…..well I am relieved but at the same time so happy for the experience. I am proud of the body of work I produced but also proud that I saw it through. Physically as well as creatively it was a challenge. Sunrise really is the most beautiful time of the day.
